The difficult part is usually not booking the ride. It is finding the correct pickup point.
At major airports such as Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat, Hanoi’s Noi Bai and Da Nang International Airport, Grab drivers cannot always stop directly outside the arrivals door. Airports use designated pickup lanes, parking areas or special Grab zones to reduce traffic.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) is the airport where travelers are most likely to become confused because domestic flights can arrive at either T1 or T3.
Terminal 1 – Domestic
GrabCar pickups are handled at the designated D1 pickup lane.
After collecting your luggage, open Grab and select your destination. The app should show the correct pickup position and walking directions.
Do not wait directly outside any random arrivals door and expect the driver to stop there.
Airport traffic rules limit where ride-hailing vehicles can collect passengers.
Terminal 2 – International
International passengers arriving at T2 should follow the Grab app toward the designated airport parking/pickup area.
After leaving customs and entering the public arrivals area:
- Open Grab.
- Enter your destination.
- Confirm that your pickup point says Tan Son Nhat International Terminal or the appropriate airport pickup area.
- Follow the walking directions shown in the app.
- Check the driver’s license plate before entering the vehicle.
You may need to walk away from the immediate arrivals curb to meet your driver.
Terminal 3 – Domestic
Tan Son Nhat’s newer T3 domestic terminal has a separate GrabCar pickup arrangement.
The official Grab pickup area is on the ground floor of the PNA parking building near the arrivals terminal.

- Go to the ground floor.
- Follow the Grab pickup signs.

Grab pickup at Noi Bai Airport, Hanoi
Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) has separate terminals for domestic and international flights.
Grab updated its airport pickup arrangement in August 2026, so older guides may show the wrong location.
T1 – Domestic terminal
The current GrabCar pickup point is:
Lane 3 in front of Hall E.
If you arrive through Halls A or B, follow airport signs toward Hall E and then cross at the pedestrian crossing to Lane 3.
If you arrive near Hall E, the walk is much shorter.
T2 – International terminal
For international arrivals, the current GrabCar pickup area is:
P1 parking area – covered section.
After leaving the arrivals hall, head toward the main exit and follow directions to P1.
The Grab app should also display walking instructions after you choose the airport pickup location.
Do not wait too long after booking
Drivers at Noi Bai have limited time to stop in the airport pickup area.
It is usually better to collect your luggage, connect to the internet and understand where the pickup zone is before requesting the car.
Grab pickup at Da Nang International Airport
Da Nang Airport is relatively compact, but its Grab system is slightly different from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
In June 2026, Grab introduced a PIN-based airport pickup system at the domestic terminal alongside the normal booking system.
Domestic terminal
For some eligible GrabCar bookings, the app may offer Pickup by PIN.
Instead of waiting for one specific assigned driver to reach you, the app gives you a four-digit PIN and directs you to a designated pickup area.
When you reach the front of the queue:
- Show the PIN to the Grab driver.
- The driver enters the PIN into the Grab Driver app.
- The system connects your booking to that vehicle.
- Check that the trip appears correctly in your app.
- Start the journey.
The PIN system may not appear for every vehicle type or every booking.
If Grab gives you a normal driver assignment instead, simply follow the normal pickup instructions in the app.
International terminal
International arrivals use designated GrabCar pickup lanes outside the terminal area.
Follow the pickup point shown in Grab rather than choosing the closest road manually.
What about Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc and other Vietnam airports?
Grab also operates at many smaller and regional airports.
However, you should not assume that the system used in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi or Da Nang applies everywhere.

- or a pickup point slightly outside the terminal entrance.
The safest method is simple:
Open Grab after collecting your luggage and use the pickup point suggested by the app.

How to book Grab after landing
A smooth airport pickup usually starts before you press the Book button.
1. Collect your luggage first
Do not request your Grab while you are still waiting at baggage claim.
Drivers may reach the pickup area before you can leave the terminal.
2. Get an internet connection
You need mobile data or airport Wi-Fi to:
- book the ride,
- see the driver’s location,
- receive GrabChat messages,
- and contact the driver if necessary.
For international visitors, having a Vietnamese SIM or eSIM ready before landing makes the process much easier.
3. Enter the exact destination
Use the full name and address of your hotel, apartment or attraction.
Large hotels and apartment complexes sometimes have several entrances.
4. Confirm the airport terminal

For example:
Tan Son Nhat T3 and Tan Son Nhat T1 are not interchangeable pickup points.
5. Follow the Grab walking directions
