The Golden Bridge is one of the most photographed places in Vietnam.
Its giant stone hands, mountain views and unusual design make it an easy addition to a Da Nang itinerary. But Ba Na Hills is much more than one bridge: it is a large mountain entertainment complex with cable cars, gardens, a French-style village, restaurants, indoor attractions and live shows.
So, is it worth spending most of a day here?
For many first-time visitors to Da Nang, yes — especially if the Golden Bridge is already on your Vietnam wish list. Just arrive with realistic expectations: it is a popular theme-park-style attraction, not a quiet mountain village.
Updated: September 19, 2026. Ticket prices, promotions, shuttle schedules and operating hours can change. Check the official Sun World website before your visit.

What exactly is Ba Na Hills?
Sun World Ba Na Hills is a mountain entertainment complex around 30 km from central Da Nang.
The main attractions include:
- Golden Bridge
- Ba Na Hills cable cars
- Le Jardin D’Amour
- French Village
- Fantasy Park
- Moon Castle
- spiritual sites
- restaurants and seasonal performances
Ba Na Hills sits high in the mountains, so temperatures can feel noticeably cooler than central Da Nang.
It is best thought of as a mountain resort and theme park, rather than a traditional Vietnamese town.

There is now a free shuttle bus from Da Nang
This is one of the most useful changes for independent travelers in 2026.
From August 8 to December 31, 2026, Sun World is piloting a free shuttle bus between central Da Nang and Ba Na Hills.
Current outbound departures are:
- 8:30 AM
- 9:30 AM
The shuttle stops at several locations in central Da Nang, including areas around:
- Novotel Danang
- East Sea Park
- My Khe Beach
- Vo Nguyen Giap Street
The journey takes approximately 75–80 minutes each way.
The current return departure listed by Sun World is 3:00 PM, so the free shuttle is convenient but gives you less flexibility than a private car or Grab.
Seats are limited. Sun World recommends registering at least one day in advance through the QR registration information on its official shuttle page.

What if you do not use the free shuttle?
You can also travel from Da Nang by:
- Grab
- taxi
- private car
- motorbike
- organized day tour
A recent independent visit reported Grab fares of roughly 315,000–380,000 VND each way, but app prices change with demand, pickup point and time of day.
If you want to arrive very early or stay later in the afternoon, a Grab or private car gives you much more flexibility than the current free shuttle.

Go to the Golden Bridge early
If the Golden Bridge is your main reason for visiting, make it your first priority.
The bridge is about 150 metres long and is visually supported by two enormous stone hands.
Vietnam Tourism specifically recommends going early because the bridge becomes crowded.
You should still not expect it to be empty. Tour groups can arrive early too, and weather conditions can change quickly.

The cable car is part of the experience
The cable car is not just transportation.
The ride from the foot of the mountain generally takes around 20–25 minutes, depending on the line and operating conditions.
On a clear day, you can see forests, mountain slopes, waterfalls and the coastline in the distance.
The weather can also change while you are riding. A sunny departure can turn into thick cloud near the summit.
Cable-car lines and operating times may change according to weather and visitor numbers, so follow the signs and staff instructions when you arrive.

Walk through the French Village
After the Golden Bridge area, continue toward the French Village.
This part of Ba Na Hills is designed to resemble a European medieval town, with:
- stone-paved streets
- European-style buildings
- squares
- a cathedral
- restaurants and cafés
- Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills
It is photogenic, but remember that it is a modern themed attraction rather than a preserved historical French village.
The smaller streets are often more interesting than simply stopping in the main square.

Do not skip the gardens and quieter areas
Le Jardin D’Amour is close to the Golden Bridge area and gives you a break from the busiest sections.
The gardens include landscaped paths, flowers and several photography spots.
You can also visit spiritual sites such as Linh Ung Pagoda.
When visiting religious areas, dress respectfully and keep your voice down.
For a day trip, you do not need to see every corner of Ba Na Hills. Spending 30–60 minutes around the gardens and spiritual area is usually enough before continuing toward the summit attractions.

What about Fantasy Park and Moon Castle?
Fantasy Park is a large indoor entertainment area with games and family attractions.
It is most useful if:
- you are traveling with children
- it starts raining
- you enjoy amusement parks
- you have already seen the main outdoor attractions
Moon Castle is another major area included with standard admission.
If your priority is photography and mountain scenery, visit the outdoor attractions first and leave Fantasy Park for later.

Food: buffet or eat à la carte?
Food inside Ba Na Hills costs more than typical restaurants in central Da Nang.
Sun World’s 2026 guide lists buffet prices at several restaurants at around 380,000 VND per person.
For a non-local adult:
- standard admission: 1,000,000 VND
- admission + lunch buffet combo: 1,300,000 VND
That means the combo adds around 300,000 VND, which can be better value than buying a standard ticket and then paying the typical buffet price separately.
There are also à la carte restaurants, cafés and quick food options.

Weather can completely change your visit
This is one of the biggest things to understand before buying a ticket.
Ba Na Hills is high in the mountains.
A sunny morning in Da Nang does not guarantee clear views at the Golden Bridge.
You may experience:
- sunshine
- cloud
- fog
- light rain
- strong wind
- cooler temperatures
sometimes within the same visit.
Bring:
- a light jacket
- comfortable shoes
- sunscreen
- a small umbrella or rain jacket
Vietnam Tourism also notes that visitors should be prepared for changing mountain weather.

Current opening hours
The official Sun World website currently lists Ba Na Hills as open and closing at 10:00 PM.
However, individual cable-car lines, attractions, restaurants and shows can have different operating hours.
Weather can also affect cable-car operations.
Check the official website on the day before your visit rather than relying on an old blog post.

A simple one-day itinerary
You do not need to see everything.
7:00–7:30 AM
Leave central Da Nang if you are using a private car, taxi or Grab.
If using the free Sun World shuttle, follow your reserved departure time.
Morning
Prioritize:
Golden Bridge → Le Jardin D’Amour → nearby spiritual sites
Late morning
Continue toward the French Village.
Explore the smaller streets and stop for lunch.
Afternoon
Choose what interests you most:
- Fantasy Park
- Moon Castle
- French Village
- performances
- cafés
- photography
If you are using the free shuttle, remember that the current return schedule is much earlier than the park’s closing time.

Is the Golden Bridge worth your time?
Ba Na Hills is probably worth visiting if you:
- are visiting Da Nang for the first time
- really want to see the Golden Bridge
- enjoy photography
- like mountain views
- are traveling with children
- enjoy themed attractions
You may want to skip it if you:
- strongly dislike crowds
- want mainly traditional Vietnamese culture
- have only one day in Da Nang
- have no interest in theme parks
- are visiting during very poor mountain weather
The Golden Bridge itself does not require much time.
What makes the 1,000,000 VND standard ticket easier to justify is spending several hours exploring the rest of Ba Na Hills as well.
Golden Bridge: expectation vs reality
Online photos can make the Golden Bridge look quiet and isolated above the clouds.
In reality, it is one of central Vietnam’s best-known tourist attractions.
Expect:
- tour groups
- people taking photos
- changing weather
- possible fog
That does not mean it is not worth visiting.
It simply helps to arrive with realistic expectations.
Go early, see the bridge first and then explore the rest of the mountain.

Our practical advice
If the Golden Bridge is high on your Vietnam wish list, go.
For the easiest day:
- Buy your ticket online.
- Leave Da Nang early.
- Go to the Golden Bridge first.
- Spend the rest of the day exploring the French Village and other attractions.
- Keep the weather in mind.
- Use the free shuttle if the timetable works for you; otherwise use Grab or a private car.
