For a short first visit to Ho Chi Minh City, start your hotel search around the places you will actually visit. Staying near your planned walks and meals can save more effort than choosing a cheaper room farther away. Mark two or three hotels on the same map, then compare their streets. Familiar names such as District 1 and District 3 still appear in travel listings; use the full address and map pin when arranging your arrival.

Look near Dong Khoi or Nguyen Hue for sightseeing

The streets around Dong Khoi, the Opera House and Nguyen Hue make a convenient starting point if your plans centre on the older downtown landmarks. You can combine several sights on foot, with breaks along the way. Compare the actual walking route from each hotel, not just its claim to be central. Choose your noise level carefully

Bui Vien suits visitors who want nightlife close by, but a room beside busy bars may be frustrating if you need an early night. Elsewhere, a smaller street can still have traffic, building work or late-night businesses. Read recent comments about the exact room and ask which way it faces. A high review score does not tell you whether you will sleep well. For an alley property, also check where your driver can stop with luggage.

Check the room, not only the rooftop photos

Confirm the bed setup, window, lift access, cancellation terms and total price before booking. Ask about luggage storage if your flight arrives before check-in, and check that reception can handle a late arrival. For a working stay, a usable desk and reliable connection matter more than a photogenic lobby.
