Da Nang or Hoi An: which base fits your trip?
Compare your daily priorities before choosing between a coastal city and an old town stay.

Da Nang and Hoi An can sit in the same journey, but they offer different daily routines. The useful question is where you want to wake up and spend an ordinary evening, not which place has the better photograph.
Choose Da Nang for a city-and-coast routine
Da Nang offers a city setting alongside beaches and cultural visits such as the Museum of Cham Sculpture. If your group wants services, meals and different kinds of outings from one base, begin the comparison here. The exact address still matters: beachside and riverside stays create different routines.
Choose Hoi An for old town time
If walking the old town and returning to it at different times of day is the priority, staying in or near Hoi An reduces the need to make that outing a transfer every time. Check how close the room really is to the streets you want to explore, and whether the approach is comfortable after dark.
Compare a normal day
Write down breakfast, your main activity, an afternoon rest and dinner. Estimate the journeys between them from each proposed room. This reveals recurring transport needs that a general destination comparison can hide.
A split stay can work, but moving rooms also costs time. For a short break, one base with a planned outing may be simpler. For a longer visit, moving once can give each place a different role.
Check what photographs cannot tell you
Before booking, confirm current room conditions, noise, access and cancellation terms. Beach conditions vary with weather; neither a beach view nor a destination label guarantees a swimming day. Keep a rain plan that does not depend on another long transfer.
Use the Da Nang hub and Hoi An hub to continue planning. We have not ranked individual hotels or claimed personal stays.
Research note: This is a desk-researched planning guide, not a report of a personal visit. Check current opening hours, routes and booking conditions with the operator before travel.
